Have a dummy run at travelling! In our U6th General Studies Adult Life sessions from Sept 2006, you will have a chance to experience every aspect of world travel.

Can you make it as a backpacker?

"It's as close as you'll get to the real thing without the food poisoning!"
This is your trial run, travelling and surviving in a perverse world of confusion, foreign laws and smelly toilets. Can you triumph in an infamous visa run? Can you sidestep the ingenious scams devised by the locals to relieve you of your cash? Can you afford a night in the hostel bar? You must travel around the world, remain safe, find work if your money runs out and accumulate worldly knowledge as you go. Win the game and you CAN make it as a Backpacker!

Click here for more info on the 'Can you make it as a Backpacker board game'. Our thanks go to Doofer Designs for donating a free game for use at school.

We have also worked with Projects Abroad on a questionnaire which will allow their specialist advisers to offer guidance on how you might profitably spend a gap year. All projects or programmes proposed are only designed to be ideas and there is no commitment on your behalf to follow any of the suggestions!

Increasingly a gap year is being spent gaining Work Experience and earning money for travel or uni. If you want to find out what options are available for students considering a gap year and discover more about the experience the Year Out Group (for organised projects) and gapyear.com (for independent travellers) websites are an excellent starting point.
